Richard W. Roper
Senior Fellow Richard W. Roper is a public policy consultant with a long career in public affairs. He has held senior level positions in local, state, regional, and federal government agencies and has had experience in nonprofit organizations, private consulting and in academic research, teaching, and administration. For 12 years he served as director of the Program for New Jersey Affairs, director of the Council on New Jersey Affairs and Lecturer in Public and International Affairs at Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International. His last four years at Princeton were served as an assistant dean of the Woodrow Wilson School. Following his years at Princeton, he served as a senior executive at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey from where he retired as the Planning Department Director in 2010. He is now president of the Roper Group, a public policy consulting firm specializing in economic and social policy research and analysis, strategic planning and program evaluation. He holds a BA in economics from Rutgers University and an MA in public affairs from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
