David Szczerbacki
David Szczerbacki has 32 years of experience in higher education as a faculty member, dean, provost, and president. He also has extensive experience in local and regional economic development, strategic planning, and organization development as professional staff, researcher, consultant, board member, and community leader. His higher education work has included system development in the areas of strategic management, program and learning outcomes assessment, shared governance, faculty development, and collaborative innovation — particularly in the adoption of “high impact educational practices” such as active learning, service learning, and civic engagement. His current research interests include: the changing roles of higher education in regional economic development; the impact of “systemness” on innovation and change in higher education; and the alignment between educational systems and both workforce development and civic demands.
