Highlights

New York's 35,600 farms produced $3.6 billion worth of products, down from $3.7 billion in 2004.
Leading vegetable crops for fresh market use were sweet corn, onions, cabbage, pumpkins, and squash.
New York's 650,000 milk cows as of the end of 2005 were producing 1 billion pounds of milk in December of that year, or 1,545 pounds per cow.
Apple production totaled 1,040 million pounds in 2005, down from 1,280 million pounds in 2004.
New York's egg-laying chicken population was nearly 4 million at the end of 2004; they produced over one billion eggs, for an average of 286 eggs per chicken.
