  • Personal income in New York State totaled an estimated $945.3 billion in 2008, a 3.4 percent increase over 2006.
  • There were 782 thousand people employed in finance and insurance in New York in 2002, 11.9 percent of the national employment in this sector. New York’s payroll in the finance and insurance sector was $80.3 billion, 21 percent of the national payroll in the sector.
  • There were 1.2 million health care and social assistance employees in New York State in 2002, earning $43.5 billion.
  • There were $29.8 billion in construction contracts in New York in 2007.
  • There were approximately 2,203 active mines in New York in 2007, affecting 64.326 thousand acres.
