Highlights

The civilian labor force in New York State was over 9.5 million in 2007.
The average weekly wage for private sector employees in New York State was $1,094 in 2006.
Personal income per capita in New York State was $41,016, in 2005. New York County (Manhattan) had the highest personal income per capita at $100,375 in 2005. Allegany County had the lowest personal income per capita at $21,669 in 2005.
There were 553.5 thousand employees of manufacturing industries in New York in 2007.
There were 1.5 million employees of all levels of government in New York State in 2007; more than a third of those worked at elementary and secondary schools.
