    Information on all aspects of elections in New York State — registration and enrollment; outcomes of state elections in 2007; and features the latest maps of Congressional and state legislative districts.

    Highlights

  • Voter registrations in New York State exceeded 11.8 million in 2009, up from 11.3 million in 2008.
  • 7.7 million New Yorkers voted in the 2008 Presidential election, 300,000 more than in 2008.
  • In 2009, 49.6 percent of registered voters in New York State were enrolled as Democrats, 25 percent were enrolled as Republicans, and 20 percent were not enrolled in any party.
  • In the 2008 election for New York State Legislature, there was no major party opposition in 14 of the 62 Senate districts and in 46 of 150 Assembly districts.
  • In the 2008 presidential election, Barack Obama received the votes of 4,804,945 New Yorkers, winning 35 counties. John McCain received 2,752,857 votes, winning 27 counties.
