    Highlights

  • Voter registrations in New York State exceeded 11.6 million in 2010, up from 11.8 million in 2009.
  • 7.7 million New Yorkers voted in the 2008 Presidential election, 273,753 more than in 2004.
  • In 2010, 49.7 percent of registered voters in New York State were enrolled as Democrats, 25 percent were enrolled as Republicans, and 20 percent were not enrolled in any party.
  • In the 2010 election for New York State Legislature, there was no major party opposition in 8 of the 62 Senate districts and in 37 of 150 Assembly districts.
  • In the 2010 New York State gubernatorial election, Andrew Cuomo received 61 percent of the votes. Carl Paladino received 32.5 percent of the votes.
