    Highlights

  • 445 trillion Btu’s of energy were produced in New York in 2011, up from 422 trillion Btu's the previous year.
  • 3,695 trillion Btu’s of energy were consumed in 2011, more than eight times as much as New York produced.
  • New Yorkers paid over $64.6 billion for all types of energy in 2011, up from more than $61.9 billion in 2007.
  • Natural gas provided 33.7 percent of the energy consumed in New York State in 2011, followed by petroleum products at 32.5 percent.
