    Highlights

  • 378.5 trillion Btu’s of energy were produced in New York in 2012, down from 412.6 trillion Btu's the previous year.
  • 3,589.9 trillion Btu’s of energy were consumed in 2012, more than nine times as much as New York produced.
  • New Yorkers paid over $63.8 billion for all types of energy in 2012, down from more than $70.2 billion in 2008.
  • Natural gas provided 35.1 percent of the energy consumed in New York State in 2012, followed by petroleum products at 33.9 percent.
