Alan Wagner

Deputy Director of Education Policy Studies

In addition to serving as Deputy Director of Education Policy Studies at the Rockefeller Institute of Government, Dr. Alan P. Wagner is a professor in the Department of Educational Policy & Leadership at the University at Albany. An economist with broad interests in education policy in the U.S. and abroad, Wagner’s most recent work concerns higher education and workforce development. Professor Wagner previously held a senior position in the Directorate for Education, Employment, Labor and Social Affairs at the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and was on the faculty at Purdue University. Wagner currently serves on the boards of the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems and the Greater Capital Region Principals’ Center. He received his A.B. from the University of Michigan and his master’s and doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, all in economics.
